Top 5 Reasons Pros Choose Roxul over Fiberglass

Many contractors and homeowners insist on ROXUL® residential insulation products for the advantages it offers over a conventional insulation like fiberglass.  ROXUL also produces the insulation products used in some of the most demanding commercial building projects and industrial environments.

So what are some of the reasons why many pros won’t settle for anything less than ROXUL?

1) It’s Fire Resistant

Made from stone, ROXUL can withstand temperatures up to 2150° F.  This helps to delay the spread of fire in a situation where every second counts. The boiling point of a more common fiberglass insulation can average between 1,000 – 1,300ºF (537.7 – 704.4ºC). The average house fire is about 1100ºF, meaning Roxul can stand up to most dangers within a house fire and give you time to get out. Most insulation will begin to melt at this point making for not only a dangerous situation but allowing the fire to spread more rapidly.

2) It’s Water Repellent.

ROXUL insulation repels water, so R-value is not affected.  It is also completely resistant to rot, mildew, mold, and bacterial growth – contributing to a safer indoor environment. Regular Fiberglass will hold water for a long time, slowly collecting at the bottom and causing mildew and rot on the surrounding walls. ROXUL can’t stop a pipe from bursting in the wall, but it can help with what comes after.

3) It’s Made from Stone.

ROXUL insulation is made from natural stone and recycled material.  Its non-directional fiber structure and high density give it better dimensional stability. This “mineral wool” gives great insulation benefits to a house and makes it more difficult for rodents to just chew through (not without some serious discomfort that is). How do they do this? Well to quote ROXUL themselves..

ROXUL insulation is a rock-based mineral fiber insulation comprised of Basalt rock and Recycled Slag. Basalt is a volcanic rock(abundant in the earth), and slag is a by-product of the steel and copper industry. The minerals are melted and spun into fibers.

That’s pretty cool! This means that inherently, you have a stronger product than fiberglass when you choose ROXUL

4) It Maximizes the Comfort.

Roxul maximize the comfortROXUL COMFORTBATT® installed in exterior walls is a great way to save energy, but there are other applications where it can make a big difference in a home’s comfort. Insulating the exposed concrete walls in basements, above cathedral ceilings and in attics are all effective ways to improve a home’s energy efficiency. ROXUL COMFORTBATT helps keep the outside, outside and to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

5) It Maximizes the Peace and Quiet.

Roxul maximize the peace & quietNothing beats the tranquility of a quiet home – and that’s exactly what ROXUL SAFE ‘N’ SOUND® provides. Unlike normal insulation, ROXUL is an innovative and high-density insulation that’s specifically designed to absorb sound and reduce noise from traveling from one room to another. It traps sound waves and vibrations in the thousands of tiny interconnected spaces created by its unique fiber structure.
