Product Spotlight – Honeywell LYRIC T5 Wifi Thermostat
With every new generation of products comes a change in the way you think about the product itself. An air conditioning unit used to be a simple dial on the wall that told you the temperature and allowed you to adjust it. Today it’s a part of an ever-expanding web of interconnected devices that drastically change the way we think about our home. If you are going to be changing the thermostat, then make sure you already have a proper hvac installation first, but if you already have one that needs a small repair, then check out these hvac parts you may need for your new air conditioning installation.
The Honeywell LYRIC T5 Thermostat
The Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Thermostat allows you to take comfort knowing your home temperature will always be just how you like it. It’s easy to install and use and conveniently fits in with your lifestyle. You can program it based on your schedule, or let it adapt to your life as plans change. Control the Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Thermostat from anywhere simply by using your smartphone or tablet, helping keep life simple and removing the guesswork while ensuring maximum comfort when you’re at home and saving you money on your energy bills. Before you swap your thermostat, make sure to hire a commercial hvac contractor for an inspection to make sure that your central air unit is working properly.
One thing we all want from new technology is something that understands our needs and adapts to our lives. With the Lyric app connecting your smartphone to your thermostat, the future is in your hands, or should we say your pocket! With geofencing technology, the Honeywell LYRIC T5 Thermostat is able to use location data to automatically adjust your home temperature based on things like whether or not you’re at your home, how long it takes to heat or cool your house, and runs the numbers for you, turning on and off at the optimal times for comfort and energy efficiency.
Connect From Anywhere
If you have your phone on you, you have your thermostat tucked away neatly in your pocket. Going to be a little later than normal? Just pop open the app, connect to your thermostat, and make sure the heat doesn’t turn on before you’re ready! Maybe you got off of work early and want to start cooling the house down for when you get home. It’s just as easy!
Connect Your Home
Besides being a Wi-Fi helper, this thermostat has the added benefit of hooking into your existing home systems! You can use Apple Homekit or Amazon Echo, then control over your thermostat is just a voice command away. Seamlessly integrate your thermostat and take back your comfort!
Installing this thermostat is almost the same as installing a digital thermostat (click that link for full instructions) with 1 caveat: you need a “C” wire, or common wire. This wire is a fifth wire that is not included in a lot of older hvac systems. When you remove your old thermostat, you might notice a 5th wire that isn’t connected to anything; this is your C wire. You’re going to have to turn off power to the HVAC controller and connect that “extra” cable to the terminal labeled “C”. Head back down to the site of your new thermostat installation and connect that extra wire to the C terminal in the wall mounting of your Honeywell thermostat, and then finish your installation!
If you don’t have a C wire, then you will either need to run one yourself (which could entail rerunning a new set of 5 wires) or hire a professional to have one installed. Although the work is dependent on the layout of your house, it generally isn’t too much trouble to run a C wire between the controller and the thermostat, so shouldn’t be too expensive to have it run.
If you live in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, you’re in luck. You can get some pretty MASSIVE rebates through Mass Save and National Grid.
