Press & Set Mouse Trap
What is It?
Revenge “Press & Set” Mouse Traps are a modern take on the traditional mouse trap. We all remember struggling with the “snap-bar” mouse traps. Getting the perfect amount of pressure on the bar, being very careful when placing the bait so that we don’t trip it and injure ourselves; it was a hassle. Half the time they seemed to go off for no reason, or the rat would outsmart the trap and run away with the food!
These traps have some significant advantages over the old ones. First, the bait is positioned in a way that mice can’t get it without tripping the trap. You place the bait in a small bowl surrounded by slight walls. To get into the bowl, the mouse has to step on the walls, triggering the trap. Second, you can easily set the bait before setting the trap. Third, the trap is easy to arm, and hard to trip by accident. Simply bring the arm of the trap backward until you hear it “click” into place. That’s it!
How do I use it?
Like a regular mousetrap, you are going to want to lure the mouse or rat in with the proper bait. Some of the best baits are:
- A small dollop of peanut butter
- Small slice of hotdog
- Chocolate and other soft, sweet candies
- Strong smelling soft cheeses
- Pet food (wet food is particularly effective)
The first few traps you set up should be in “high traffic” areas. If you know where the mice are living, place it near that lpcation along baseboards, counter tops, or in cabinets.
Mouse Repellent Pouch
What is it?
A Mouse Repellent Pouch is exactly what it sounds like: a tiny pouch that repels mice.
Mice have excellent senses of smell, but a limited visual range. Because of this, it is effortless to deter mice from entering an area using odors that they find unpleasant. These smells are similar or the same as those given off by essential oils, so while the mice hate it, people love it!
How do I use it?
Find an area you don’t want a mouse going to, place the pouch down, and go about your life. That’s it! These packets need to be replaced every 30 days to ensure freshness, but over time mice will learn to stay away from that area through this simple conditioning.
Pestblock Expanding Foam
Another great way to keep out pests of all kinds (from rodents to insects) is by identifying where they are gaining access to your home and blocking it. It can be easy to underestimate how small of a hole that mice can get in through, so don’t make that mistake.
First, find any and all entry points and stuff the holes full of steel wool, which mice can’t dig or chew through.
Then use Great Stuff® Pestblock Insulating Foam. If small holes are your problem, then this product is an ideal solution. It expands to fill, seal and insulate gaps up to 1 in. (25 mm), forming a long-lasting, airtight and water-resistant barrier. Pestblock Insulating Foam Sealant blocks the entry of pests that can damage the house and its contents while helping improve the home’s energy efficiency by reducing air leaks. Talk about a win-win!
This approach allows you to easily seal up as many holes as you need to without worrying about spending a fortune on other individual solutions. Who wants to maintain 20 mousetraps or mouse repellent bags? Not you, and certainly not us!
